An uptight world grabs our attention and we respond to it.  There seems to be ample justification for our worries, frustrations, anxieties and fear of the future just by virtue of being born into a world seemingly on a path of self destruction..  We need a diversion; a new perspective.

I am reminded of the story of some New York business men who heard that in the then-wild west there were great opportunities for new, profitable enterprises.  They decided to check it out so they boarded a train to Texas.  At the train station, they boarded a stage coach that would take them to their hotel.

The stage coach was driven by a grizzly old experienced driver who drove his horses at full gallop along narrow dirt trails, around tight curves and frighteningly close to drop-off cliffs.

His greenhorn passengers felt sure this old man was bent on self-destruction and was going to take them with him!

When the driver saw his passengers were cowering in absolute fear and hanging on for dear life, he turned to them and said, “Say folks.  If you want to enjoy this ride you’ll have to learn how the set loose!”

Living in a turbulent world we all need to learn how to “set loose.”  We need to reserve a quiet place in our mind into which we can retire to set loose for a minute.

A few years ago I saw the following that gave me a new perspective.  I don’t know what genius originated it, but it’s worthy of review every now and then:

• Do a cartwheel
• Sing into your hairbrush
• Dunk your cookies
• Play a game where you make up the rules as you go along
• Step carefully over sidewalk cracks
• Kiss a frog, just in case
• Blow the wrapper off a straw
• Stay up after your bedtime
• Eat desSert first
• Put way too much sugar on your cereal
• Giggle for no reason
• Make cool screeching noises every time you turn a corner.

There!    Now I feel better. What would you add to this list?

We all aspire to achieving that seemingly elusive “peace that passeth understanding.” It represent that Utopian mental state where we are free from earthly pressures, anxieties and fear of the future.

Do you think for a minute that you will ever find this kind of peace and freedom originating in the finite world that is the root cause of universal discord, chaos and confusion?

Never!

Peace is embodied exclusively in the one infinite consciousness which, by its own infinite nature, knows no opposites such as chaos, confusion, conflict and corruption.

To experience that ”peace that passeth understanding,” we must lift our conscious awareness out of the finite human mind and totally embrace the one infinite conscious.

Transforming the focus of your conscious awareness is not unlike the phenomenon of viewing an optical illusion. In focusing your attention on the diagram you find that, sooner or later, the diagram seems to shift from one perspective to another. To shift the focus of your consciousness, find some quiet place, relax, empty your mind of all thoughts, mentally see the infinitude of your mental vision and assume an expectant LISTENING attitude.

Like the optical illusion, you will become aware of shift in your conscious awareness and an overwhelming sense of freedom, joy and well being. This shift may happen immediately or might take some time. Make it a habit to repeat this “search” as many times a day as you can.

We must constantly challenge ourselves by asking, “Consciousness where are thou? Art thou in the belief that the mind is in matter and that evil is mind? or art thou living in the faith that there is no other mind but God and keeping His commandments?” (“Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” by Mary Baker Eddy, pg. 307)

It was Helen Keller who said, “I do not want the peace that passeth understanding, I want the understanding that bringeth peace.”

The impact of this “peace that passeth understanding” may last only a split second but it will be so intense, you will not mistake it for anything other than the one infinite consciousness making itself known to you.

Let us lift our consciousness to contemplate and understand the infinite vastness of the one true conscious awareness that defines the universe. This true, unopposed nature of this universe is absolute, defined by Webster as, “That which is free from imperfection or mixture.” It forbids the existence of any opposing concepts. Know, too, that this infinite, peaceful universe is forever committed to maintaining your well being through its own mandated laws and principles.

Why should you look into a higher dimension of conscious awareness that promises you greater, more permanent success, prosperity, freedom and harmonious life experiences when you’re doing OK the way you are?

Because, if you are a forward looking person, there are always new horizons that should be explored. If you’re like a lot of folks today, you look around the world and are disturbed by the rampant discord, chaos, corruption, financial disruption and every other malady known to man. If they haven’t done so already, sooner or later these conditions will have a negative impact in your life… unless you do something about it now.

If you need one reason why you should at least look into a proven, scientific method of preventing these world problems from influencing your life, this would be it.

I have proven specific, scientific laws and principles in my own personal and professional life and to the benefit of hundreds of clients over the past 50+ years; all since I discovered relevant natural laws and principles that, according to Webster, are the “creative and controlling forces of the universe”. FREEDOM is knowing how to solve problems.  To experience true freedom is to also experience  peaceful, harmonious life experiences.

Lots of people go through circumstances where they have temporarily “solved” a problem but are no better off in the long run.  This is because their problem solving method was predicated on academic theory, philosophical abstractions or the experiences of some third party guru and was devoid of any demonstrable operating principles.  In all likelihood, it was an escape mechanism or quick fix approach that lacked factual, scientific substance.

Simply “getting rid of the problem” is not enough to assure any lasting benefits.  What is more important than “getting rid of the problem” is to have a change of consciousness that precludes the existence of any event or circumstance as a “problem.”

Had they implemented my scientific method they would have lifted their consciousness to the point where they would have grown out of the finite mindset that brought the problem about in the first place.

We all aspire to achieving that “peace that passeth understanding.”  That “peace that passeth understanding” is a freedom from the pressures, anxieties and fear of the future that seem to be the standard in our finite, earthly experiences.

This being the case, expect a change in the focus of my blogs from “problem solving” to how you can attain self transformation and mastery over your true inner being.  This new focus will be on the dynamics of consciousness where “consciousness” is defined by Webster as, that which is “aware, known or felt by one’s inner self; the upper levels of mental life of which a person is aware.”

Hopefully, these articles will bring you to that place where your individual conscious awareness is so dominant in your thought that your present humanly circumscribed life will be subordinated to the “upper levels of (your) mental life” in and as consciousness.  This being accomplished, the claimed presence of a problem will prove to be a non-entity and simply dissolve, never to return and you will experience that “peace that passeth understanding.”

Nothing has really changed from the statements and implementation of natural laws and principles as outlined in my book, “The Science of LIVING BETTER FOREVER.”  This will simply be a more finely tuned perspective; a broadening understanding of the structure of the universe and the implications of its absolute, infinite nature. (where “absolute” is defined by Webster as, “That which is free from imperfection or mixture”.)

The nature of a universal, infinite consciousness is the substance of all that exists.  It is the root cause of all that is real and, by its very nature of being infinite, forbids the existence of any opposing concepts.  It will be to your benefit to follow these articles closely.  Read and re-read them and make them your own knowing that growth is the eternal mandate of consciousness which is committed to your well being.

Facts are facts and cannot be altered. If your problems, whatever they may be, are not resolved, there is a valid, scientific reason why: “Ye ask amiss.”

In the absolute reality of an infinite, perfect universe, there are no problems or conflicts to resolve. Your true identity is 100% embraced in this perfection. You couldn’t change this fact if you wanted to.

Do you know how I know this? Because you are what prompted Rene Descartes, back in the 15th century, to recognize that “Cogito ergo sum.” “I think., therefore, I am.” If you are reading this, you are consciously aware that you exist and, because you did not create yourself, you can reason that you are the effect of a source that DID create you. If that source contained anything that would pollute or destroy itself, it would be logically and scientifically impossible for it, and you, to exist at all.

But it DOES exist and so do you! As humans, we are trained to take certain procedural steps when faced with challenging circumstances. In spite of the fact that these procedures are less than effective in bringing about our inherently natural harmonious life experiences, we keep on repeating the same old methods and get the same old non-result.

It is written, “….we receive not because we ask amiss.” Herein lies our answer. It suggests that if we are not receiving satisfactory results, we would be wise to reexamine our game plan, however well accepted and time honored it may be. We have no choice. It is the Law.

This is confirmed by Dr. Einstein when he reminds us that:

“You can never solve a problems from within the same consciousness that created it. We must learn to see the world anew.”

Whatever this “new world” may be, it must be a radical departure from the accepted methods and procedures that don’t work. We must replace them with procedures that do work. To effect a change, we must make a change. What is that change? We must reject the false, problem oriented finite human identity. Completely! When we re-identify ourselves with our true spiritual identity, we will receive. We find these procedures rooted in the most scientific manual ever written: The Bible.

As radical as it may seem, we must stop seeking finite “things” like employment, money or anything else you seem to lack. We must KNOW our true infinite, spiritual identity, lift our conscious awareness to accept and trust the proven scientific fact that when you stop seeking “things” and “seek ye only the kingdom of God, all these things shall be added unto you”(Matt. 6:35).

And where is “the kingdom”? We are told plainly that “the kingdom of God lies within you.” (Luke 17:21) and, further, that “it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom” (Luke 12: 32).

If man were to seek his true spiritual identity, to the absolute rejection and exclusion of any finite appearance, he would receive. It is written that “What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them” (Mark: 24).

It is the LAW! Webster tells us that LAW is “A rule or principle that always works and is enforced by a governing authority”. As Aldous Huxley reminds us, “Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored”. So it’s entirely up to you to make them work in your individual experience. Otherwise these truths will remain merely dormant, philosophical and ecclesiastical abstractions.

It’s all really quite simple. Many years ago, I heard of a local factory worker who won a $10,000 raffle. He gave it all away to some charity. I couldn’t understand why any rational person would give away $10,000?! I thought he was nuts!

However, he had his reasons and, whatever they were, they were worth more to him than the money. As I grew in my career, I could see how giving was an important element in building a business, offering more-than-expected service, respect for the customer, integrity and professionalism, etc.

Characteristics like honesty, loyalty, love, respect, gratitude, appreciation, etc. cannot be depleted. In fact, the more you give of these intangibles, the more they multiply. My motivation in writing articles is to share my experiences and expertise with others who may benefit from them. Every time I write one, however, I learn something myself and I am the first beneficiary of my efforts.

But MONEY? How can giving away anything physically tangible, do anything other than deplete the supply? How can I benefit (prosper) by depleting what I have? To me, it didn’t make sense.

Then two things happened:

1) My wife and I lost everything we had to Hurricane Katrina. All our physical possessions were destroyed. A lot of people demonstrated their care, love and compassion, and showed it in tangible ways by giving food, clothing, transportation, shelter and money to fill this sudden void in our lives. Through their expression of sharing their intangible love and caring, their lives could only be manifested in more harmonious and prosperous life experiences. It is the Law!

2) My growing, practical realization and understanding that we do not live in a finite world where everything is limited and subject to depletion. What appears as physically tangible elements are, in truth, the effects of an infinite cause within each one of us. Being INFINITE. This cause cannot be depleted. Being ALL, it is the substance of all reality and cannot do anything but BE infinite. It can know no opposite or challenge to its infinity. It cannot, tolerate a void or vacuum. The more we understand this to be our true identity and make it the underlying principle motivating our sharing, we are free to draw on this infinite, all inclusive supply any time without depleting it. The result is that we will enjoy an increasing sense of success, prosperity, freedom and more harmonious life experiences in our finite world. It is the Law!

However, one “signal” after another urged us to find a way so we made the decision to “take the plunge.” So we signed up for the course, hired a live-in Nanny for a week and began our course, still feeling a little concerned over the financial wisdom of our decision.

After concluding the course, we settled back into our normal routine. It may have been due to the material we learned in our class, but to our amazement, when we tallied up all our expenses we found we had more money in the bank than when we started!

What does abundance mean to you?

Simple logic tells us that what cannot happen doesn’t happen. But it DID happen.

It seemed completely unnatural and in violation of mathematical laws and principles. There was something going on here that I didn’t understand and I was compelled to find out what.

To analyze bookkeeping practices, second guess accountants, and challenge financial experts to find answers would be to invite controversy and professional denial. The answer lay somewhere else.

I’m a creative consultant with particular expertise in problem solving and have helped many clients resolve “impossible” problems by breaking the rules and thinking in abstract, illogical terms. Based on this personal experience, I concluded that the “accepted rules” and “normal” procedures, however well accepted, could be flawed.

Dr. Einstein observed that, “No problem can be solved from within the consciousness that created it. We must learn to see the world anew.” To resolve a condition of limitation from a premise of limitation, would be counter productive and could not possibly result in a positive conclusion.

If one were to discover Dr. Einstein’s “new world,” it must be a radical departure from the presently accepted finite reasoning procedures that don’t work and must be predicated on sound, proven scientific laws and principles that do work… and can do so with predictable certainty.

The Discovery

Some years ago I made such a discovery. It was as old as dirt and so simple it is easily overlooked and rejected.

If you are reading this, you know that you exist. Back in the 15th century, Rene Descartes observed, “Cogito ergo sum.” “I think, therefore, I am.” Whatever your experiences may be, they are uniquely yours and exist only within your own personal conscious awareness; not somewhere “out there.”

Follow this logic:

We appear to live in two, opposite worlds. Webster defines OPPOSITES as, “Elements that are so far apart and diverse as to be totally irreconcilable one to the other; elements that are in total diametric opposition.” These two worlds cannot be justified one to the other; they are opposites. By definition, then, if one is true, the other must be false, if one is real, the other must be unreal, where one is finite its opposite must be infinite.

Only the infinite can be real. It is that which Webster tells us “is limitless, boundless, endless; greater than any pre-assigned finite value however great.” It has no center and no circumference, no boundaries, no past and no future. It is completely incorporeal without any measurable dimension. Infinity just IS …NOW. As such, there can be nothing else. Nothing!

Stop right here, get quiet, and contemplate the meaning and significance of these self evident facts. FEEL them. Take them into the very fiber of your being. Live them!

Your true singular identity comprises the only reality and existence there is. NOW ! Being infinite, there can be nothing to oppose or challenge its (your) own all inclusive self identity. This gives you absolute authority, indeed, OBLIGATION, to completely reject any finite concepts being imposed upon you.

This is a hard concept to grasp because it is constantly being challenged by incompatible inner thoughts coming from the world’s acceptance of false finite beliefs. Constantly work on “unseeing” the finite world around you by completely relaxing your mind and lifting your conscious awareness to a listening mode. This will provide the proper mental environment that will allow infinity to express itself in, and as, you.

When this becomes an awakened conscious awareness and not merely an intellectual acceptance, you will feel the world melt away if even only for a few seconds at a time. But the power of those few seconds will be so intense it cannot be interpreted in any way other than to recognize it as your singular, unique oneness with the infinity of your being.

The effect of this infinite awareness is the dissolution of anything unlike itself, ie, all human ignorance of the laws of your infinite identity. Of course we must “do business” with the appearance of a finite world but we remain in control. It’s like controlling darkness by turning on the light.

Could the operation of this law explain Jesus’ admonition that we “cease ye from man whose breath is in his nostrils” (Is 2: 22), His feeding the multitudes ( Mark 6: 30-44), His finding a silver coin in the mouth of a fish with which to pay his taxes ( Matt 17: 24-27) or the many other natural biblical events that man has so conveniently labeled “miracles?”

Since our acceptance of this discovery, my wife and I have had many similar experiences. Not the least of which was our harmonious removal from the traumas and losses we incurred when hit by the full fury of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. So complete has been this “healing” that the details of our experience have faded to being just a distant memory.

According to Webster, ABUNDANCE is “more than enough; amply sufficient; plentiful; bountiful supply, prosperity “. It is interesting to note the similarity of this definition with Webster’s definition of FREEDOM as “being relieved from lacking something unpleasant.”

As a natural quality of your being, you are abundantly supplied with all good. Right NOW!

You already contain and express all the good of infinity. If you are INFINITY, which you are, how can you lack anything? You can’t! Accept it! BE it and rejoice in your freedom!

Change is inevitable. Growth, being an eternal mandate of Life’s governing principle, is likewise inevitable. Growth and change, then, are synonymous terms. When one is “ready” for another new growth experience, our world presents us with new “pictures” which, too often, we tend to misinterpret as another disruptive problem we must overcome. In truth it is a new opportunity for growth seen in reverse.

I guess my time had come for a growth change. For seemingly no reason at all, I was presented with what appeared as a conflicting set of circumstances I needed to understand. I pictured its apparent confusion as a New Orleans Gumbo where a lot of seemingly unrelated components would be blended together and yield a harmonious conclusion.

For some reason, the initial impact took me back a number of years when I first experienced an awakening event. I don’t like to talk about the war, but this experience occurred in Italy during WWII. My Company was pinned down and I found myself immersed in a surreal world of noise, flashing explosions, absolute fear, chaos and all the turmoil that combat offers.

Out of my absolute fear, something happened. From deep within me came a sense that the entire world existed only in a 10 foot radius around me. Everything outside this “cocoon” was simply a nightmare that could not touch me. I somehow felt “safe.” (And because I’m here now, I guess it was right!)

The confusion of my current unrelated elements was as completely separate from me as it was in my combat experience. This experience contributed to the validation of my discovery, more than 50 years ago, of the scientific approach to problem resolution wherein I recognized that our entire experience exists only as a phenomenon within our own individual consciousness. Nothing really exists outside of this awareness.

I learned to release the entire situation and focused on the irrevocable laws of infinity’s maintaining its own perfection and balance and my relation to it. It came to my mind to take certain steps, call certain people, collect certain documents and maintain an attitude of complete confidence and trust as an objective observer knowing that the outcome would be in everyone’s best interest.

Through the cooperation, understanding and adherence to principles, laws and a mutual love and respect for others, everyone involved shared in a mutually beneficial growth experience.

It may be difficult to do at first, but as you continue to train and discipline your mind to accept your inevitable mandate to grow, the outcome is likewise inevitable. This is assured by an ever-expanding sense of your inseparable oneness with the “creative and controlling forces of the universe.” This fact confirms and reveals to your conscious awareness that you are the prime beneficiary of infinity’s unchallenged fulfillment. It is the LAW!

Of equal duration has been the availability of experts and other gurus who claim to know the answers to our problems but in spite of this, there is still a lack of viable solutions; and even if by chance someone did have a viable solution, our elected officials are reluctant to implement it.

One can empathize with the song by Hank Cochran, made famous by singer Eddy Arnold in his signature song of the ‘80’s, “Make the world go away—and get it off my shoulders.”

Is that possible? It certainly is! But no change is possible unless there is a change in your conscious awareness. When, and if, you can properly restructure your individual conscious awareness these inharmonies and disruptions “shall not come nigh thee” (Psalms 91:7) This is more than just nice philosophical words from the Bible. It is an absolute scientific demand that we restructure our mind to be in perfect accord with scientific laws and principles.

There are two irrevocable, opposite conditions necessary to induce this pattern and guarantee positive conclusions. Being opposites, these two conditions cannot be justified one the other, nor can they be described in term of the other. They are opposites!

1. We must reject any and all finite circumstances that define the nature and conditions of the problem. This demand is more than just a simple intellectual denial of the problem, it is a total rejection and separation from it. We will still have to deal with circumstances on the human level, but they will have no substance, no reality and have no power except that which we, in our ignorance, give it.

2. It is mandatory that we accept the absolute presence and conscious awareness of our true nature as infinity, without limit, without exception, limit, boundaries, center or circumference. Infinity has no dimensions, it knows no humanly circumscribed claims, circumstance, event or condition. Its nature and definition as absolutely prohibits there being any existence other than itself.

Our transition from the finite to the infinite is tantamount to going from a darkened room into the full light.

Living in this all-inclusive pressure-free peace and balanced environment would be realized if we were successful in implementing the condition cited in the song by Anthony Newley, “Stop the world, I want to get off.”

Song writers often articulate things better than the rest of us. If you can’t sing out loud, as I can’t, reach out to infinity and FEEL it!

I’m sure it’s a terrific program that will benefit many people. Over the years I have signed up for a jillion such programs and have realized a lot of good from them. But I have also found that, for me, there was something missing. I still had to struggle to overcome some of the same old problems that seemed to be a part of what I’ve come to identify as “me.” They may have changed their characteristics but the root cause of my problems seemed to linger.

Don’t misunderstand what I’m saying here. I encourage people to pursue as many self-help programs as they can handle; and there are a lot of real good ones available. But in doing so, I would ask that they be alert to recognize a certain thread of sameness that they all seem to share.

They all seem to share the view that makes the difficulty, the problem or discord a real “something” that is preventing them from achieving whatever goal or objective they are seeking. Through whatever means proposed by a particular philosophy, in one way or another, they adopt a confrontational approach and set out to do battle with this “enemy” with the intent of destroying it and thereby freeing them to realize their objective.

In my opinion, this confrontational approach runs the risk of creating more frustration than solutions because it assumes the problem area is real and has some inherent power to do possible harm. One would benefit by considering an additional dimension that will render all these common approaches more effective. Let me give you an example:

Upon entering a darkened room, you are confronted by problems. You bump into objects, become disoriented and experience confusion and chaos. In order to resolve your disorientation, you do not strike out against the darkness, you TURN ON THE LIGHT! This reveals the complete room and its contents which ALREADY EXISTED.

Similarly, you must realize, with scientific understanding, that problems are not natural to you and that, in truth, you are ALREADY free. When you learn to reject problems with the same assurance and conviction with which you turned on the light and you will realize the natural, pressure free, harmonious life experiences that are already as natural to you as wet is to water.

In biblical terms, “Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). Here there is no reference to confronting and overcoming an obstacle in order to gain your freedom, there is none. We are admonished to “KNOW the truth….”

The real universe in which we truly “live and move and have our being” (Acts: 27-29) is here and now and is maintained in perpetuity by natural laws and principles, defined by Webster as the “creative and controlling forces of the universe”. When you know and understand this truth, your freedom is assured. It is mandated by LAW, which defined by Webster as, “A rule or principle that always works and is enforced by a governing authority.” That “governing authority”? The “creative and controlling forces of the universe!”

Unlike any other self help approach to problem resolution, the inclusion and proper implementation of SCIENTIFIC, natural laws and principles can assure positive results with scientific predictability.
